The Thang:
Slightly less than 6 miles, beginning at Alexander Graham (AG) Middle School, through Myers Park and a portion of the Booty Loop, ending at AG. Times ranged from less than 45 mins by the lead group of RoboCop, Holtz, Smiley and American Pie, to around 51 mins.
Naked Man Moleskin:
- Modifications. The Colonel, Dark Warrior and Smiley started early, put in 3 miles prior to the Pax's 0630 start, and merged with the Pax soon thereafter. After completing the SixShooter, The Colonel, Smiley and SixMike took off and logged an additional unknown amount of miles. Impressive. Modification of the SixShooter is encourgaged as a way to help get stronger, faster and to help prepare for other events. Kind of reminds me of an old coach who used to offer encouragement, in his southern drawl, by saying "We got to get more butter at ....". Interpreted to mean we had to get "better" at whatever we were doing.
- Nike, circa 2018. As I understand it, Dark Warrior was sporting new kicks that replaced his previous pair acquired 7 years ago, in 2004. Rumor has it that DW is scouring the athletic footware research reports, pirated from skunkworks located deep in the Beaverton, Oregon countryside, to gain a sense of what footwear technologies will be available in 2018, the next time he's in market for new shoes.
- Morsels aplenty. The lead group apparently had a fruitful and lengthy discussion concerning their experiences in running marathons compared to mid-distance races. What was most impressive was their ability to carry on any conversation at the pace they were setting.
