GONADS/Trail Run Challenge--BackBlast.8.20/11--Dirty Smokeboots

Aye, a subset of the Faithful gathered in the Gloom for the 10K trail race at the U.S. National Whitewater Center:

Warthog
Moniteur
Rook
Coop
Sleepy

The Thang:
A 10K race on the mostly single-track trails of the Whitewater Center. A lot of up-and-down and twist-and-turn. Moniteur led the way and finished and impressive second among men ages 40-44, 20th overall, in 46:48. Next was Warthog in 47:43, 23rd overall and fourth among men ages 35-39. Coop finished in 50:42; OBT in 53:55; Rook (along with the lovely MRook) in 54:27; and Sleepy in 55:42. Full results can be found here.

Spreadsheets from the Gloom:
_ Serious Smokeboots: 3xclaps to Moniteur and Warthog for going sub-50:00 on a very tough course. As YHC and Warthog rode out to the USNWC together, Warthog opined that he thought he would be faster running on trails than he is on pavement. The actual race disabused him of that notion, but rasies the question of just how fast he could be in a road 10K. As for Moniteur? Smokeboots, brothers ... smokeboots. The chatty Frog gas got some serious giddy-up in those skinny legs.
_ Worlds Colliding: There was a bit of personal Venn diagram overlap for this event, as OBT, Warthog, Coop and Sleepy were joined by several non-F3 co-workers on a team representing their MMIBB (Middle-Market Investment Banking Boutique). OBT and Sleepy (along with Rook and Moniteur) still made the point of sporting GONADS/F3 race jerseys for the event.
_ Man Down Report: OBT tripped on a root between miles 1 and 2 and got a bloody knee and a nicely filleted palm for his trouble. No other known injuries, though Moniteur did spend a lot of time complaining post-race about how dirty his nice white running shoes had gotten. It's called a trail race, brother ...
_ Note To The Wise: USNWC executive director (and GONAD) Jeff Wise may want to do something about the food service at the Whitewater Center; leaving the restaurant closed until noon kept Moniteur, OBT and Warthog from toasting completion of the 10K with a 10 a.m. beer.
Guess they just didn't want Warthog's money ...
_ Other Sightings: Running on the MMIBB team with his daughter Jessica was Zoot colleague (and noted triathlete) Gary Greene.
