Spreadsheets From the Gloom:
_ I was a little punchy this morning -- still on West Coast time after being out there for the last eight days, so the wakeup felt more like 0145 than 0445. I think I mistook SuperDave for RoboCop at one point. Thanks to MMOB, Tango Delta and Kit Carson for stepping in with exercise suggestions for the various Rings.
_ In case anyone questions how hard we get after it, let me just say that I returned to the fray following a pretty active vacation. On every one of our six non-travel days, Sarah and I did some combination of biking, hiking and sea kayaking. I also snuck in a six-mile twilight run one evening on San Juan Island. Even so, I was hurting this morning, brothers, proof that every day away is a step backward in this crowd.
_ 3xclaps to FNG James Guptill. Kotter to ... myself, I guess. War Daddy was War Daddy (naturally); War Baby was Silence.
_ 3xclaps also to Bootleg, who is preparing to ride in this weekend's 24 Hours of Booty event.
_ Finally, to follow up on the volunteer opportunity that Hitman mentioned during the CoT ... Campos stalwart Dr. Evan "Doc" Miller is one of the leaders here in the community of the Dental Missions of Mercy event that will take place August 18-21 at the Charlotte Convention Center. Doc is an endodontist (I know from personal experience that he delivers a mean root canal) and an original Campos guy; this is an event that is very close to his heart.
Here's a link to the event website, with an informative and inspiring 4-minute video that gives a great overview of the program:
http://www.ncmom-charlotte.com/
A number of Qrusaders are helping with setup and teardown of the event on Thursday, 8/18, and Sunday, 8/21, and Doc has identified this as a very logical place for folks like us without healthcare backgrounds to volunteer our time. But there are also many other opportunities for community volunteers to give time that can be accessed through the website above or by clicking this link. If you're going to be out of town or can't give your time but still feel moved by this worthy cause, there's also a place on the website to donate cash - just look at the lower left of the homepage.
