GONADS--Ritchie.5-15-11.Rough Justice

OBT:

GONADS,

Seven men, a paint can and half a cyborg posted for this morning's Ritchie Run:

MMOB
Dredd
DarkWarrior
TangoDelta (FNG)
Raul Justice (FNG)
Tino (FNG)
OBT

The Thang:
The MMOB "This Is My City" Loop, 12.2 miles through Dilworth, South End, Tuckasegee Road, Wesley Heights, Uptown and the Sugar Creek Greenway. (FN3)

The Times:
The lead pack of MMOB, DW, Dredd and TangoDelta broke away on the long climb up Tuckasegee, finishing in 1 hour, 41 minutes.  The loose cluster of Raul Justice, OBT and Tino trailed by probably 3-4 minutes.

Spreadsheets From The Gloom:

_ Tino is Paul Martino, consigliere of the Crazy Legs Blue Ridge Relay conglomerate, a fellow 50+DC marathoner and OBT's partner-in-crime for our upcoming, June 11-12 assault on back-to-back marathons in Iowa and South Dakota.  After running 22 miles on Saturday, he joined the Ritchie for 12 of his 16 Sunday miles and made himself immediately at home with the group by dropping a reference to scrodding as we exited Freedom Park.

_ YHC did the Ritchie as part of a 22-miler; I'll be following that up with 14 tomorrow morning.

_ Raul Justice debuted on the Ritchie and brought along a friend in his $750 Made In the USA Special Forces rucksack: a can of paint.  All in a day's training for the man we'll all be pulling for when the Death Race kicks off in Vermont the last weekend in June (www.youmaydie.com).

_ 3xclaps also to TangoDelta, also making his bow at the Ritchie.  The man says he hates running, but he looked pretty good to me from the far distance.

_ DarkWarrior, who had never run 12 miles in one stretch in his life when he debuted at the Ritchie a month ago is now holding pace with the likes of MMOB and Dredd.  3xclaps there as well.

_ Finally, you're wondering about the half a cyborg aren't you?  MacDeuce posted for the Ritchie, but apparently there was some sort of ghost in the machine, because he was late for the main group's departure.  So he ran the loop backward, hooking up with the lead pack as they came through Uptown, running with them back to Freedom, then circling back to pick up YHC, Tino and Raul as they came in, then heading off to finish his run. 1.5xclaps for MacDeuce.

_ Finally, we have this Race Report from West Coast Correspondent Antonio Table, reporting from this morning's Bay To Breakers 12K in San Francisco, where drinking was banned this year but nudity is still welcome:

Some Moroccan won in 34 mins. I ran with my sisters - we did it in 1 hr 16 min. Not the fastest pace, but we were dodging slow runners and naked men the whole time. Some hilarious costumes: pack of Charlie Sheens, skid marks, Ambiguously Gay Duo, Greatest American Hero (Ed. -- Zoot, were you in SF this weekend?), birthday cakes, guy with Borat banana hammock. I could go on.

Didn't see a lot of drinking. Past years they have rolled kegs - saw none of those. I think people got liquored up before the race - lines at porta jons at 1 mile mark were 20- people deep.

It was fun. Longest I've ever run. Wouldn't have done it but for these morning workouts the last 4 months.
